Mavel’s TM Modular Micro Turbine (“TM Turbine”) is designed for sites with low flow and low head conditions. Easily installed, the TM Turbine utilizes siphon technology to capture the energy of the water utilizing a Kaplan-type runner with four manually adjustable blades. The runner is connected to an asynchronous generator directly or by a belt drive. This allows for turbine and generator speeds to be optimized for the site condition. The TM Turbine does not require an enclosed powerhouse and can be installed directly on support brackets attached to the weir structure. Over the past twenty years, Mavel has installed over 65 TM Turbines at sites in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Japan, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine and the USA.

The four standard models in Mavel’s TM Turbine line are the TM3 (300 mm runner diameter), TM5 (550 mm runner diameter), TM8 (850 mm runner diameter) and TM10 (1000 mm runner diameter). The specific operating conditions for each model are specified in the tables below.

Mavel’s TM Modular Micro Turbines are sold as complete pre-assembled packages for turnkey installation. The modular package includes turbine, generator, draft tube and automated control system.
