Then and Now

Mavel’s mission statement was formulated at a Snowmass, Colorado meeting of management and investors in 1997. Since that time, the company has evolved from a startup in a transitioning economy to a global leader in its niche market. The mission, however, remains the guiding principal in adapting strategies to changing markets and global trends. Mavel was founded in 1990 as a small hydro engineering company and is now an ISO certified innovative engineering driven manufacturing company with 200 employees, two production facilities, and 100 proprietary turbine designs providing customers with complete (water-to-wire) equipment packages. Mavel’s first installation was a 100 kW Kaplan turbine in Germany in 1993. Now, the company has over 500 Mavel turbines in operation at over 300 sites in 43 countries on five continents.
